The summer tourism season has been declared open in Azerbaijan.
On June 13, a media tour to Shahdag was organized for media representatives in connection with the opening of the summer season, the work carried out in this direction, and innovations, jointly organized by the State Tourism Agency and the "Shahdag" Tourism Center.
The main goal of Mediatur is to bring to the attention of the general public the events implemented by the State Tourism Agency in order to support the development and promotion of summer tourism in Azerbaijan, including existing tourism destinations and services, as well as to provide information about the infrastructure innovations carried out at the "Shahdag" Tourism Center and new opportunities created for visitors.
The event included presentations covering the tourism industry's preparation for the summer tourism season, as well as existing and new tourism products intended for tourists during the summer season at the "Shahdag" Tourism Center.
It was reported that by 2030, GDP production in the tourism sector is projected to reach 11.5 billion manat, the share of tourism in the non-oil and gas economy to 8.2 percent, and tourism revenues to 7.4 billion manat.
Last year, the tourism sector's share in the country's economy was 4.5 percent, including 6.7 percent in the non-oil and gas sector. In 2018-2024, GDP production in the tourist accommodation and public catering sector increased by an average of 3.8 percent annually, as a result of which the added value created in this sector increased by 30 percent over 7 years, reaching 3.1 billion manat in 2024.
